Well, this is our first ever Blog post on our first ever webpage…my wife, Stephanie, and I just want to say WELCOME!!

My first trip to Curaçao was in 1976. No one I knew had ever heard of it. Still today, so many people I have met call it “Cur-a-cow” and only really know “that blue drink.” Stephanie hadn’t heard of Curaçao before meeting me, and she loves it so much, she now shares my dream of relocating there permanently.

Today, Curaçao has become quite a popular vacation spot for many Canadians, and more and more of us are buying vacation properties, or even moving permanently to this amazing island. It’s been quite an evolution. I’ve always thought that our Canuck way of being (polite, laid back, appreciative and generous) matched that of the people of Curaçao. In addition, Curaçao’s eclectic cultural mix just feels comfortable to so many of us, it only makes sense that so many of us fall in love with the island once we experience it.

When I was a kid, I never once met another Canadian on the island. Now, I know dozens!! It makes me very happy to know so many others love Curaçao as much as I do, and I want to foster and nurture that feeling by helping create a helpful community of us. Our hope is we can help each other with some of the obstacles involved in relocating, etc., and smooth the path for many more Canadians to realize their dreams of escaping the freaking snow!!!

Just imagine, Curaçao Canada day parties at the beach, maple candies in stores, poutine stands everywhere…ok, maybe that’s too far.

But you get the idea!
