Kid Stuff in Curaçao

Admittedly, I am not an expert on entertaining children. I am, however, quite proficient at entertaining myself at the expense of children (the kids in my family, including my own, can attest to this). Here is my best effort at compiling things for kids to do while visiting Curaçao.

  • On the first day, make them run up and down Mount Christoffel 8 or 9 times. The rest of the vacation should go smoothly!! Lol
  • If they like snorkeling, you should go to Tugboat beach (Tugboat also offers “Be the Artist, where people can create their own souvenirs with the help of a professional artist!! Tugboat also has the Karma Project, which is a puppy rescue), and then also some of the Westpunt beaches.

*Note: The conditions and swimming difficulty can vary greatly from day to day at any of these beaches, so a beach your 10-year-old swam at today might be too dangerous for an experienced adult the next day. Always be cautious and judge the sea with respect. My 9-year-old niece swam Tugboat with no trouble at all, but she is a very good swimmer. A more novice swimmer may need a floatie or other swim aid to help out. Playa Lagun is a great place for a novice swimmer to see great coral and beautiful fish as it is quite sheltered and calm…usually!!
  • Shete Boca and Watamula are cool things most kids enjoy. I still remember my first time to going to each spot back in the 70s.
  • If they like animals, Amazonia or the Ostrich farm are both very cool.
  • If you want a break from the sun, or if it’s raining, the Sambil mall has a couple of super fun play areas for kids (slides, games, trampolines, etc)
  • Spend a half day on a TikiBoat. This is quickly becoming one of the most popular vacation activities on the island. It’s safe, fun, and the staff are awesome. Highly recommended.
  • If your kids are into hiking or rock climbing, check out our friends at Rock Climbing Curaçao. They have tons of options.
  • Outdoor playground in Otrobanda near the swinging brindge
  • Outdoor playground at Marie Pampeon
  • For something a little different, but still really fun, try Children’s Museum Curacao
  • You definitely want to bring them to Mambo beach. The snorkeling is not as good as the other beaches mentioned, but it’s a fun place for young people.
  • Punda Vibes on Thursday night. Music, dancing, fireworks…lots to see
  • Jan Thiel Beach has a Jet Pack experience.
  • The Curaçao Sea Aquarium not only has amazing fish, dolphin encounters, etc., but it is also home to Substation Curaçao, an amazing submarine adventure (pricey, but a once in a lifetime experience).
  • There are a few places on Spanish Waters that rent out Sea-Doos.
  • There are companies that provide ATV tours. (Eric’s ATVs is recommended by my daughter!!)
  • There is horse riding (I don’t call it “horseback” riding…what other part would you ride on?)  at Criadero Babetti
  • On the way to Tugboat, check out Windsurfing Curaçao for windsurfing, hydrofoil, SUP, and other water fun on Spanish Waters.
  • SeaScooters at Tugboat Beach: This activity is amazing, and a even child of 8 or 9 can manage it if they are a strong swimmer. It is a small, motorized thruster that allows the operator to move more quickly through the water and even dive down if they want. They can provide a guide as well, so it’s very safe. It’s super fun!!
  • Sambil Mall is a nice place to take a break from the heat (or rarely, rain). There are tons of things for kids to do, including a trampoline park.
  • Striker Bowling and Bar: This is another super fun indoor activity. They have bowling and billiards…fun for all ages.
