Visit 50 Beaches in One Day and Raise 50,000 XCG for a Children’s Charity???
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!!

So, how did we get here?

Well, 50 years ago, in 1976, I was an 8-year-old boy visiting Curaçao for the first of what would become many, many visits. My mom was moving here to marry my stepfather, Andre, and I would be coming here three times a year to visit.

Andre showed me all around Curaçao, exposed me to things I had never dreamed of, and I immediately fell in love with life here. Fast-forward 50 years, and now my wife, Stephanie, and I have retired and moved here.

One day, we were discussing whether it would be possible to visit all 50 of Curaçao’s recognized beaches (The Beaches of Curaçao) in a single day. We quickly determined that a very fast boat would be the only way. Stephanie then said, “Maybe we could turn it into a fundraiser.”

I replied, “Fifty beaches… 50-year anniversary… let’s raise 50,000 XCG for something.”

And just like that…

The Curaçao 4 Canadians 50/50/50 Fundraiser was born!!

We contacted the Otra Guide crew to discuss the idea, and they were immediately on board to help with media and networking. We knew we needed a very fast boat and an amazing captain, so Irvin from Powerboat Caribbean was the obvious choice.

After a ton of research, we reached out to the Rotary Club of Willemstad to help us find the right charity. The Rotary Club was a natural fit because my stepdad, Andre, had been a member for many, many years, and he was the reason I ever came to Curaçao in the first place. We wanted to find a charity that would benefit children by providing something to help them stay active.

Rotary Club of Willemstad managed to find a worthy cause that was exactly aligned with our ideas. We are very happy to announce that 100% of the proceeds of this fundraiser will be going towards the DMO’s proposed construction of the Punda Community Playground – A Safe Place to Play.
